The Flash Center has three levels of organization: The Director and Internal Advisory Committee; the Management Committee; and six disciplinary working groups.

The disciplinary working groups are:

Astrophysics (group leader: James Truran).
This group is focused on the astrophysics calculations. Its responsibilities include theoretical studies of thermonuclear flashes, and the development of astrophysics code modules for the Flash Code. The astrophysics group has led the development of the first versions of the equation of state and burning modules for the Flash code.

Basic Physics (group leader: Todd Dupont).
This Basic Physics Group focuses on developing fundamental understanding of the detailed physical processes which underlie the Flash Center astrophysics problems. Examples of the current interests include flame modeling, interface instabilities, and modeling of subgrid (i.e., unresolved) physical processes.

Computational Physics and Validation (group leader: Todd Dupont).
The efforts of this group are concentrated on the development of algorithms for compressible and incompressible hydrodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, relativistic flows, radiation transport, and methods of data analysis suitable for block-structured adaptive meshes.

Computer Science (group leader: Rusty Lusk).
The computer science group investigates and develops computer science infrastructure elements, including tools for performance monitoring, characterization, and optimization, tools for distributed and parallel computing, standards for common component architecture, diagnostics for high performance data transmission and storage, and high performance visualization of large data sets.

Flash Code (group leader: Anshu Dubey).
The Flash code group is focused on building and maintaining the code that carries out the core astrophysics calculations. Its members include astrophysicists and computer scientists, and they have been responsible for building the present Flash code.

Visualization (group leader: Mike Papka).

The Center's coordination of activities in these various areas on a day-to-day basis is managed by the Center Management Committee, whose current members are Don Q. Lamb (director), Todd Dupont (Associate Director, Basic Physics, Computational Physics and Validation), Rusty Lusk (Computer Science), Jim Truran and Robert Fisher (Astrophysics), Michael Papka (Visualization), Anshu Dubey (Code), and Carrie Eder (Administration); Robert Rosner and Rick Stevens (ANL) are ex officio members of the Management Committee.
